时至今日，玉壶仍然为世人所钟爱，而它的造型也在多年的变迁之中，变得愈发的丰富多彩。

此壶是由白田石制作，也可以称它为寿山石，寿山石极品之一。田白石中色白者，名“白田”，多产自上、中坂。色非纯白，多略呈淡黄或蛋青色，似丰脂玉，萝卜纹明显，有红筋，格纹如血缕。以质灵、纹细、格少者为最佳。
寿山石主要出产于中国福建省福州市市郊北部约30多公里的寿山乡，日溪乡,闽侯县等地。 寿山村是寿山石的唯一的原产地。其位于中国福建省福州市的东北部，出福州市区北上，在蜿蜒而平坦的盘山公路上行车三十余公里就能到达寿山。 寿山村风景优美，气候宜人。寿山村由群山所环抱，正是这些山头构成了寿山一道道亮丽的的风景线。以寿山村为中心的“百里连亘”、“万山村立”的群峰里，主要有高山、旗山、旗降山、杜陵、善伯等。从高空俯视，一条美丽的线条—寿山溪镶嵌在寿山上，有“石帝”之称的田黄正是出产于寿山溪自身及周边。
